Because CCC has seven intercollegiate sports, and over one hundred athletes involved in those sports, the remainder of the college students participate in other organized athletics, specifically the CCC intramural program.

On campus, there are eleven social groups called Greeks: six for men and five for women. Each Greek has a team that participates in intramural volleyball during the fall, and basketball during the spring.

Directed by Phil Bates, the intramural program offers students a structured athletic outlet in a relaxing environment. "With the pressure of papers, exams and homework, students have a way to use extra energy and a place to socialize with friends," says Phil Bates.

Just like any other sporting event, the Greek intramural program includes officials, stats, score clock and many supporters. Student gym staff and volunteers operate all of these important positions.

Although intramurals exist more for the social life than the competition, the players and fans still get pumped up for each game. The games are highly competitive, but the overriding spirit of the games is to worship God in the athletic field.

"I believe CCC intramural athletics allow the student to go out and have a good time competing with their friends," said SKD Greek member John Tyrpak. "The exercise and the fellowship are just what we need in the midst of rigorous studying."

Friends and fellowship seem to be the highlight for most of the Greek participants. SGC President Clay Martin believes that "the intramural system is an excellent means of building camaraderie among our members. It allows us to find out more about each other and spend more time together than we normally would."

In 2006, the intramural program will finish with a bang. The first-ever Greek Championship Week will be held at CCC later this spring. The basketball quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals will be packed into one wild, crazy week in the gym. On Championship Friday night, Bob Holmes, a one-man volleyball team, will be hosting a 2-hour event in between the womens' and men's intramural finals.

Besides volleyball and basketball, soccer and football are also a big part of the intramural program. Both of these sports have a draft in late March. A short league season takes place before school ends in May.

The latter site was recently created by SGC Greek Intramurals Director Aaron Dahl so fans and players could easily access scores and stats from the Greek leagues.
