Directed by Dr. Craig Ralston, five performances of the musical "The Secret Garden" were performed this past week at Clearwater Christian College. The cast, crew and orchestra worked hard for months, and their efforts paid off. The show was a huge success.

"The Secret Garden" is based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It is the story of a lonely little girl named Mary Lennox. She is sent to stay with her uncle Archibald in Yorkshire after she became orphaned by a cholera epidemic in India. Archibald is still grieving over the loss of his wife Lily, who had died ten years earlier during childbirth. He is also distressed about the health of his bedridden son Colin. These tragic circumstances create a sad mood within the manor until Mary discovers a secret garden that Lily had once owned. By bringing this garden back to life, Mary somehow brings life back to her brokenhearted uncle and to his sick son.

Two young stars played crucial roles in this production. Laura Peterson and Andrew Smith played the parts of Mary and Colin, the two children. Combined with the tremendous efforts put forth by the rest of the cast and crew, the show was highly entertaining. It was one of the best shows CCC has produced in recent years.
