Under overcast skies and a 70 percent threat of thunder showers, three alumni teams faced off against their younger and more physically fit counterparts for the 2006 fall alumni games.

The day opened with the men's soccer game during which 19 brave alumni battled Coach Bates' 2006 squad. The alumni made a good showing although the 7-1 score didn't reflect dedicated play.

Congratulations go to Rich Switzer ('04) for his lone goal salvaging a complete shut out. Thanks to Coach Larsen for heading up the alumni team.

History was made this day with the first ever ladies' alumni soccer match. Over eight alumni attended this year's initial game. The field was shortened to accommodate the smaller number of players. The alumni team fought to a 5-2 loss with goals scored by Beka White ('06) and Kristin Switzer ('05).

Much appreciation goes to Coaches Hutchison and Robinson ('06) for pushing for this game and heading up the two teams.

A usual tough match ensued during the alumni volleyball game; the CCC Lady Cougars, however, won three of three with scores of 30-23, 32-30, and 30-21. On at least one occasion, the alumni team called for an extended time out to recover from an unusually long volley.

Even though she is 12 weeks pregnant, alumnus Cindy Stenberg ('03) participated in the competition. Fortunately, the alumni team was not penalized for having too many players on the court at one time. Thanks go to Suzy Llerena ('93) for coaching the alumni team.

This year's event included a school wide picnic, including both current students and alumni. Because of adverse weather conditions, the picnic took place in the newly renovated Cathcart dining hall.

Along with good food, the group enjoyed inflatable bouncy games and icy cones for the children. At the end of the day's activities, President Richard Stratton invited the alumni to the cafe for a reception.
