For some time, Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission in Largo has worked with those in great need. Grace Baptist Church of Clearwater has been trying to raise $5000 to help the Largo rescue mission feed the homeless.

Because of legal difficulties, the mission has been closed to the homeless. Instead of a place where people can sit down to a meal, the mission has established a bagged lunch program.

Every morning, bagged lunches are taken by mission volunteers to areas where the homeless usually live, and are handed out. The mission is actually bagging hundreds of lunches a day.

In fact, the mission has had to bag so many lunches that they are asking others to help. However, the mission still ultimately wants to get a new building with a cafeteria to carry on the rescue mission.

Grace Baptist will still be sending $5000 to Suncoast to use for their needs. At this time, the rescue mission is not aware that Grace is trying to raise this money.

As of February 14, the current amount raised was $537. Donations can be sent to Tim Johnson at Clearwater Christian College, or directly to Grace Baptist Church, 2787 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL 33759.
