Near the end of last school year, CCC learned that because of financial difficulties Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, a sister college in Minnesota, was closing its doors. That brought uncertainty to students, as well as faculty and staff; Some students felt a huge uncertainty, and some students were not sure even if they would be able to finish their education.
One of those students was Corianne Sherman.
"I'm a transfer from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota, since the school closed at the end of last semester. At Clearwater I could continue what I was studying at Pillsbury--music and biology. Now, I'm an Interdisciplinary Studies major with those as my concentrations."
Corianne wants to use her talents to serve the Lord in some capacity. "I plan to use the music in ministry and transfer the science credits to a state university near home. I hope to complete a degree in laboratory technology in order to become a medical lab technologist."
Justin Heidman also began spring semester 2009. "Actually, I initially intended to start in the fall semester, however, that decision would have rushed me. I had been working full-time, and there were things I wanted to finish before going back to school. Among other things, starting this semester allowed me to save the money to take a missions trip to El Salvador and find another job while I attend CCC."
Justin appreciates a Biblical emphasis. "I believe that God led me to CCC through a number of specific events in my life. I felt God leading me to become a Christian psychologist. I decided this after much prayer, seeking counsel and information from friends and family, and observing the unique situations and challenges God has put in my life. I knew I needed to study psychology from the Christian standpoint, rather than the humanistic viewpoint. Thus, I am at CCC!"
Laura Greenhoe explained that she was actually a returning student. "I attended Clearwater my freshman and sophomore years, but did not come back in the fall semester. I'm now back and know this is where God wants me right now."
Returning in the spring semester allowed her to continue her college education. "I wanted to get back as soon as possible and not waste more time in order to graduate next May!"
Many students, including Jessica Austin, appreciate the family atmosphere. "The reason I came here is that I wanted to get a college experience away from home. When I visited, I loved the at-home feeling that Clearwater showed. I grew up in a Christian school and really enjoyed it; so, I wanted the same experience in my college education."
Bill Flack agreed with Jessica. He said it was the feel of the campus that attracted him. "I did not want to wait until the fall to transfer here."
Paul Witmer, another new student, came to CCC for one simple reason. "I came to CCC because I felt led by God. I am presently in the Navy and as I looked through a list of colleges that the Navy ROTC approved, I hoped to find a Christian college, because of my Christian background. I originally applied at another college, but it did not work out. Clearwater Christian College was the next on my list of ROTC colleges. I began researching CCC and decided to apply. I am glad God allowed me to find this college."
Each student has a unique story testifying of God's direction and provision, each one led here for a purpose! Welcome to CCC.
