Many seniors graduating this May are contemplating future jobs and careers. This semester, senior psychology majors have the opportunity to experience possible career paths as they participate in exciting internships. The internship class is not just valuable for exploring possible jobs, but also for gaining "plain old" experience.

Opportunities to shadow experts in various psychological subfields include internship sites with Youth & Family Alternatives, USF Research Hospital, Bayfront Medical Center, Tampa Bay Christian Counseling Center, Pinellas County Sheriff's Department, The Center for Brain Health, and Seffner Christian School.

Several psychology students have experienced interesting opportunities. Interning at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department, Julie Kennedy is shadowing experts in the field of forensic psychology: "I have really enjoyed interning at the Sheriff's office because it has enabled me to see a side of law enforcement that I have never observed.

I have been able to participate in so many different activities with deputies and the detectives. Whether or not the deputies have thought it was exciting, everything has been really interesting."

Senior Kyle Morrison has gained valuable experience shadowing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Bayfront Medical Center. Kyle explained: "Through my internship, I have learned how the field of neuropsychology is both incredibly challenging and yet, incredibly rewarding. I know that I want to pursue neuropsychology."

Additionally, many of the students have learned more about the power of God and His Word. Interning at Seffner Christian Academy, Tiffany Deose shadowed Guidance Counselor Mallory Alexander, a CCC graduate. Tiffany expressed the satisfaction that she gains by sharing God's Word with struggling students: "When dealing with problems, I can deal with them in a solid, Bible-believing school. I ultimately try to encourage the students with God's Word."

Many psychology students have solidified their chosen career paths through the internship experience; others have gained valuable experience for the future. Overall, the final semester of internship is an asset to students' careers and a great way to round out their education at CCC!
