Christmas lights, inflatable obstacle courses, the warm smell of freshly fried funnel cakes moving through the air. Students and staff who attended the annual Christmas Carnival December 10 were offered a fun filled and delicious evening.

Clearwater Christian College teamed up with The Goff family to bring the greatest Christmas Carnival to date. The Goffs, who own a company that sets up elaborate parties and events, coordinated the evening's activities and food.

With help from the ladies Greeks and volunteers from the staff and student body, the carnival was well run and managed throughout the night.

The carnival featured something for everyone. Santa Claus, represented by our very own Mr. Carver, made himself available for "pictures with Santa." For just a few dollars, one could enjoy the finer things in life. Unlimited amounts of hotdogs, hamburgers, popcorn, and of course, funnel cakes were enjoyed by all and the authentic "carnival food" smell filled the air.

For the slightly younger crowd, a full range of booth style games were available with candy prizes. Even the youngest could find something to do, such as Gabe Cancel, almost two, who took a liking to the "frog launch" game. Anyone of any age could find something fun to do at the Christmas carnival. The sounds of laughter and fun filled the air on campus.

Due to popular demand, the highlight of the evening occurred when students were given the opportunity to "joust" a staff member on the inflatable jousting platform. Signature "jousters" included Dr. Richard Stratton and Mr. Ryan Dupee, who bravely took on an eager and sugar hyped student body. After all, who wouldn't want a chance to smack a staff member down with a large, padded club?

In addition to jousting, a large obstacle course, as well as a "bungee race" was available for just one ticket. The inflatable games were a hit with all age groups, students and staff alike.

An inexpensive and fun filled evening, the Christmas carnival provided CCC with hours of entertainment. This year's carnival was second to none. The general student consensus was that this carnival was the best one in CCC history. With its amazing food, great entertainment, and great fellowship, it's no surprise that overall student enjoyment was at phenomenal levels.

A great thanks goes out to the Goff family, the Greeks, and any other volunteers who helped make a spectacular evening and a wonderful start to the Christmas season.
