The Cougars Men's basketball team will have two big games during the beginning of Christmas break. The Cougars will travel to Melbourne Florida to face Florida Tech on Friday December 18. Then they will play Georgia Southwestern University on Saturday December 19, an away game.

This will be the third time ever that the Cougars have played against Florida Tech. The other two times were the previous two seasons for the Cougars. Only George Youstra and Lonzo Saunders have played against Florida Tech every time.

The Cougars have never beat the Panthers of Florida Tech. Previous games have prepared the Cougars for success, however, including the 2007-08 season, when the Cougars used their game experience against Florida Tech to good use for the rest of the competition. They made it to the NCCAA South Regional Finals, where they were able to knock off the then number one team in the NCCAA, Wesley College, in the semi-final round.

The experience Florida Tech prepared them for Wesley College. While this may be the third time the Cougars have played Florida Tech, this will be the first time the Cougars played against Georgia Southwestern, which is a NCAA Division 2 program that participates in the Peach Belt Conference.

After the two games the Cougars will be off until January 8, 2010, when the players have to report back for practice to prepare for Florida College, a team the Cougars lost to by one point in the final seconds, early in the season.
