Points are based on a team's finish in an NCCAA National Championship. At least 33% of the division's membership must sponsor that sport in order for the sport to be eligible for the point system. Softball, cross country, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, golf, and tennis serve as "uni-division" championships in which those sports may be eligible for points.
Teams finishing first in the national tournament in their respective sport receive twelve points; second, nine points.
Since the men's Cougar soccer team and Lady Cougar volleyball team finished as national champions, the Cougars received twenty-four points for the national championships.
CCC also received four points when the women's soccer team finished sixth in the national tournament. Those combined twenty-eight points gave CCC the lead in the first semester President Cup standings.
The first semester standings proves CCC to have a five-point lead over Manhattan Christian College, who finished second in the President's Cup standing last year.
In order for CCC to win the President's Cup this semester, the winter Cougar teams must do well in their respective regions and make it to nationals to gain more President's Cup points.
The Lady Cougar basketball team is favored to return to the national tournament and continue their momentum of last season's run towards the national championship.
The men's basketball team, on a winning streak, looks to win the first complete season since 2005 and hopes to receive a high ranking in the regional tournaments. The Cougars will face tough competition in their region the last half of the season.
The Cougar baseball team has a new coach, Raul Hernandez, who brings fresh passion to the 2010 season. The team will compete with Southeastern University to receive a bid to go on to the National Invitational Tournament.
The Cougar sports teams have done well so far this year with their performance on the field and court; most importantly, the Cougars continue to work hard to display a good Christian sprit to their opposing teams.
